The Salthouse Harbour Hotel's unique art collection represents the work of a diverse mix of artists, photographers and sculptors. Each piece has been hand picked.
Urban art is well represented in the collection. The rejuvenated industrial warehouse building provides a great backdrop for these works and many others. The ZEBRA GRAFFITI on the outside wall by the hotel entrance is by urban artist SPQR and was specially commissioned. SPQR is from Bristol, the home of many successful graffiti artists. The piece is inspired by a vintage photograph of US convicts. He has given it a twist with reference to Damien Hirst and the idea that prisoners who wear pink are calmer. This piece took him three days to complete. He has exhibited in the UK and US and will be having his first solo show in London in the Autumn.| lazy hazy crazy summer days - View more |
